About Albert Frei & Sons
Albert Frei & Sons, Inc. (AFS) is a local, family-owned aggregate producer, operating several sites in Colorado supplying crushed stone, sand, gravel, and other construction materials. AFS was founded in 1962 by Albert Ray Frei (Fritz). Under the guidance of Fritz and his boys, Albert Raymond Frei, Sr. and Fred, the original Henderson pit continued production through the early 1980s. The third generation, consisting of Albert Sr.’s children, Al Jr, Ben, Joe, Lisa, and Tommy, has continued to grow and invest in the AFS Walstrum Quarry.
AFS has a strong record of giving back to the community and focuses on environmental responsibility. The Quarry is an economic cornerstone of Clear Creek County. The existing Quarry has supplied aggregate construction materials for industrial, commercial, and residential uses in the area since 1983. The aggregate construction materials are essential to the transportation system and economic development in Clear Creek County and the surrounding communities.
The proposed Walstrum Spur Amendment (Spur Amendment) would allow AFS to continue the mining heritage of Clear Creek County.
